Dr. Herbert Haubold
Principal, Austrian & German Operations; Expert on Earth Observation & Environmental Sciences

Dr. Herbert Haubold holds a PhD in Geological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, and he is a Certified Senior Project Manager from the International Project Management Association (Level B). His educational background also encompasses communication skills (especially group moderation/ facilitation). Since 2002, Herbert has worked for the Austrian Environment Agency (EAA) as Earth Observation expert and project coordinator and also as an internal project management advisor and trainer. Through his involvement in Earth Observation related projects and bodies Herbert has gathered extensive knowledge regarding the programmes Copernicus (formerly GMES) and GEO/GEOSS.

Herbert has been co-ordinator of the FP6/FP7 projects GNU (GMES Network of Users) and HELM (Harmonised European Land Monitoring, www.FP7HELM.eu) and participated in a range of other Earth Observation related European research projects, including PROMOTE, MACC, obsAIRve (on Atmosphere monitoring); BalkanGEOnet (capacity building); GeoLand and GSE Forest Monitoring (land monitoring). Herbert represents Austria in the Copernicus User Forum and is a member of GEO/GEOSS Austria and the Austrian Inter-ministerial Group for Space.
